The cottage is situated on a quiet road and a short distance from the shore. It is equidistant from the sandy beaches of Calgary and Kilninian, both ideal for small children and easily accessible.
There are several prehistoric remains nearby notably Dun Aisgain a bronze age broch seen from the cottage. There are also the remains of illicit stills in caves on the shore and the ruins of black houses from the old settlement of Burg.
The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and rich in wildlife. Red deer, golden and sea eagles can all be seen frequently from the cottage.
